If you need to brush up on your Spanish, the title of this blog post is “The She Wolf is Postponed.” Erica called me last Friday evening to tell me that Shakira was postponing her North American tour until May of 2025. The countdown was only a couple of weeks away from our big show and now the wait is on yet again. Apparently due to high demand, Shakira has to upgrade from arenas to stadiums. The real kicker is, after an excruciating weekend waiting for the new schedule to be announced, we will be seeing her at the same arena as previously scheduled.... just an extra 7 months of waiting.
While it was shocking that she would cancel our show less than two weeks away from the big day — side note: my anxiety is having a field day with this — part of me is excited to have several more months to plan and prepare. This year hasn’t been the easiest for me, so I’m hoping things start looking up for me in time for our new concert date: June 22! I'm also relieved that we didn't lose our seats and, since it's not a stadium, we're going to have an amazing view of the show from the indoor lower level.
While the countdown continues on, I’m going to use these next several months to perfect all of her lyrics (especially the Spanish ones), get myself in shape to dance and sing through 2+ hours, keep looking for the *perfect* tour ‘fit, and plan out an amazing trip with two of my favorite ladies!
I'm not quite sure whether or not I want to ignore all the news about the tour until our concert day or allow myself to experience spoilers (like the setlist and whatnot) once she kicks off the tour in February in Latin America. When I attended her Oral Fixation Tour, I received all of my spoilers from the fan boards at ShakiraMedia and Shakiraholics. I knew exactly what she would be singing, what she would be wearing, and the special guests she would be bringing out (Wyclef Jean was at our stop in Atlanta!). Part of me wants to know what I am looking forward to, but I also want to walk in and immerse myself in the show and let it blow me away. I'm sure no matter what I decide it's going to go down as one of the most memorable nights of my life!
Shakira, I’m still coming for you, Loca!
