Halloween Nostalgia @ KW

I have few memories of autumn from my childhood that I replay often in my head. The first, is my Papaw Ova's ghost hanging from a tree in his front yard. It would make a ghostly sound when someone walked by it. I was dressed as Ariel from the Little Mermaid that year, but my Mom let me carry a silver wand, too, because I loved them.  The second, is riding my bike under a full moon during an autumn evening. I had finished dinner and mom let me go outside even though it was dark, so I rode circles in the front yard as I kept my eyes on the moon. I wish I go relive those simple days, when stress wasn't causing my hair to fall out and I didn't have my mind racing all of the time. The third memory is of going antiquing with my Mom one weekend when I was home from college. There were so many pumpkins and scarecrows everywhere, and the way the sun was shining that day just made everything seem golden. Plus, I remember wearing my black and white striped wicked witch socks that day, which were awesome of course, I just needed a pair of ruby slippers to complete the ensemble (sometimes I tease myself that I would make a better villain than heroine).

Autumn nostalgia is hitting hard this year, and has been a recurring them in my Blogtober posts. This year, my kids are old enough to start partaking in a bit of it with me, especially where movie nights are involved. There are a few things that I miss about Halloween as a millennial. Y2K is trending again, but I remember living it firsthand before it was "cool."

This year I'm taking Dorothy Gale and Jasmine trick-or-treating! My son has grown out of wanting to dress up for Halloween, but I plan on putting together a little "boo basket" for him so he can celebrate, too! I didn't know that last year would be his last time going door-to-door for candy, but there are still plenty of traditions that we can look forward to as a family no matter how fast the kids are growing up on us! One of those is the Halloween movie marathon! I grew up with some of the most iconic films and have been waiting ever so patiently for the kids to be able to sit through them all with me. If also helps if you have some Halloween candy available, too. Below is my list of the best family-friendly Y2K Halloween films to watch this spooky season!

This has been another glorious Blogtober post! Tomorrow we're counting down to Shakira's world tour with a look back on her chart-topping albums. See you there!
