Since entering my cottagecore era this summer, I wanted to bring that cozy, simplistic vibe into my decorating this year... well, I'm a bit of a maximalist when it comes to Christmas though. I wanted all the soft yellow lights that twinkle and glow to bring an element of warmth and whimsy. Only ornaments of sentimental importance will hang from the boughs of my tree—and we've got a tree full already since my husband and I started collecting ornaments throughout our childhood. Handmade elements are a must; I have several crafts to share with you later on this month that the whole family can enjoy!
My children love Christmastime, too, and each has decorated a tree for their room with their unique style. I'm turning the kitchen into a wonderland with all things winter white and snowflakes galore! I've added in a hot chocolate/coffee bar, too! Our annual hot chocolate celebration is sure to be a hit this year!
Team Wesley has been building up quite the Christmas collection, and so far we've not had to purchase much to deck our halls. I did pick up the kids a chocolate advent calendar from Trader Joe's and we made a trip to Hobby Lobby to select their special ornament of the year. I also had to purchase a new star topper for the tree since our usual one had broken sometime in storage. You'd be surprised at the cute and affordable décor places like The Dollar Tree have as well. My husband picked up the cutest Nutcracker lights for my kitchen shelves for just $1.25! You can make your holiday elegant with whatever you have on hand! You don't have to spend money to make your home feel like Christmas.
