This year however, I had to find something else to make and decorate because, for the first time in four years, my salt dough did not turn out. It was way too sticky and took too long to dry out. I tried different ratios of salt/flour/water and even tried to let them air dry for 24 hours before baking and nothing yielded the results I was used to. Luckily, I live in the Pinterest era, so I quickly discovered a few new crafts that I could create and even enjoy with my girls.
All you need for some cute and cozy Christmas crafts are: popsicle sticks (regular & half-size), hot glue gun with glue sticks, acrylic paint (washable if your kids are joining in), paint brushes, clear tacky glue, sequins, glitter, ribbon, beads, + any other craft supplies you have on hand!
Don’t forget your inspiration and imagination, too! I got my ideas from Pinterest, but changed some of the designs and decorations based on what supplies I had. Not pictured are some paper snowflakes that I designed, too. I haven’t made a paper snowflake since elementary school! My girls enjoyed spending an afternoon painting and decorating their own nutcrackers, houses, and snowmen. Evie’s ballerinas are pictured below; they’re so pretty!
Now I just need to add ribbon or twine to hang our creations around the house so we can enjoy them all season long!
Happy Blogmas, Reader! Hope you get a chance to get creative this week, too!
