Begin Again Week Three Worship Guide

Worship is defined as the expression of reverence and adoration of God. Worship shows how deeply we respect God and how we lift Him up above all. Worship is what we were created for, by the way. There are many ways that we can glorify God, and over these next two weeks we will explore some of those together. Today we're going to focus on being servants.

Jesus calls us to serve and love one another. Being a Christian means living out our lives as messengers of Love. God is Love and without God there is no love, so living for ourselves and not using our lives as love in action is pretty pointless and ultimately shows that we don't know God ourselves (1 John 4:7-8). Jesus says in John 13:34-35, "a new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." Galatians 4:13 say "you shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Your task today is to serve the people around you. You can start at home with your family. This should be pretty easy, but make an effort to show them love the way Jesus would if He were to pop up at your house today. Maybe try to be slow to anger, giving extra grace and listening more intently. Do something that will help their day go a little smoother, help them with something, cheer them up if they're feeling down. The possibilities are endless, but your effort will make a world of difference.

When you step out today, also try to serve those around you. Here's a little tip I've been practicing when I leave the house: pretend everyone you meet is Jesus in disguise. Trust me, I know how difficult it can be to love someone who doesn't have one iota of care for you, but the truth is Jesus loves this person and we should, too. Even when our blood is boiling and we feel attacked and offended, love should always be the answer.

The way we live our lives can be a beautiful act of worship. It is going to be messy at times, but the more we know God, the more we change and reflect His Son. And the world needs more of that, Reader. Now get out there and share a little love with someone today!
